ZDoom style font lumps!

This would be a cool addition for modders. New console and menu fonts add a lot of atmosphere to a mod.

I've created a tool that generates bmps or pcxs from system fonts which can easily be converted into zdoom font lumps using "imagetool" (available here - http://grafzahl.drdteam.org/index.php?page=topic&id=230 - thanks for the link, Firebrand)

I'll release the tool once i find some good hosting for it, for now here's some screen shots...

compare those images with the example images packaged with imagetool and you can see how useful this tool can be =)

Yeah, I must say it kicks the shit out of zdoom's font handling.

My font tool is getting close to a final version, get it here!

How does this feature works anyway? You draw font, save it in some format, then - what?

Quick little bug report - it looks like you are using the exclamation point character instead of the space character for confont. Everything in the console that should be a space is an exclamation point, typing space gives exclamation points. Typing ! gives the exclamation point from the STCFN lump (as if it were not present in the confont, I assume).

Everything else looks good, except vertical space seems to be ignored. Not sure whether this is intentional.

You can use it in-game with HUD messages (which are now also supported by Vavoom), defining an ACS command SetFont (name of font).

Alternatively, you can make two types of fonts "big" fonts (like those of menu titles, etc.) and "small" fonts (like normal message fonts to use more generally), this is not only for fonts, there's a way to print static images to your message and move fonts and images at will, so you can imagine all kind of combinations this could be used for, like dialogs story telling for maps, etc. :)
