Can't we have the old cheat system back instead of having to go to the console? I mean, out of the box, one surely expects "idbeholdr", for example, to give you a radiation suit when typed in the middle of the game. Is there a reason Vavoom does not recognise the standard cheat sequences?

I prefer having them as console commands. It has some advantage of authomaticy pausing the game and possibility to bind them to a key.

I think the command for that it's "show_fps 1" or something like that.

One for an instant stat boost or the stat boost vouchers...

What about changing levels ?

idclev doesn't work in DooM2.

warp sort of works, but it demands a map name, and this is highly irritating. I can't just warp 16 for example.

It can't be done like that, it should be something like "warp map16" because Vavoom also supports non standard map names, for example if a custom game has a map named 'castle' you can use something like "warp castle" and it should work fine too .

Then I guess I'm out of luck. One of first levels in Mock2.wad crashes at start and I can't skip it. No I won't attach debug logs (yet), because so far I'm running Direct3D version through wine and that may be part of the problem.

You can do the following in such case, drop the console down at the title screen and type:

skill

With a number from 0 to 4 for the skill level.

Then type:

Code: Select all

warp mapXX

Where XX is the map you want to go, the game will start automatically at the specified map .

Not really a cheat -- but how can I turn on / off fast monsters, respawn, item respawn, etc. -- they things I use to set with args to doom.exe? I've tried the args from readme but not effect
