I've got a prob on wad author :-(

The other day i found out how to make breakable glass with wad author but i can't put the script in. I right click on a blank bit of space, select scripts then click compile. Wad author says the script code could not be compiled. I looked in help and it says that it might be low on free memory but i check that and i have just over 70% free. Could someone help? <br><br>P.S I made a bridge with 3d floors but it went i bit wrong could someone please tell me how to make one or is insterested in knowing wot its like and could fix it.<br>

What kind of error you get? Can't it be compiled at all or it compiled with errors?<br><br>Bridge - make sure that sector defining 3D floor has floor above ceiling. WadAuthor's map check will report this as error, but it should not be fixed.

<br>I found this error message only in 16-bit version of an old WadAuthor version. Upgrade it to the latest version, you will find it on DoomWorld.com.

i click on upload and uploaded it. it says it uploaded successfully have you got it ??? The file should be test.wad<br><br>ok i'll download the latest version of wadauthor and get back to you on that.<br><br>Wot is the latest version ??? because if its 1.30 then i've already got the lastest version.

Is it because you're somehow missing the ACC compiler itself?  Perhaps you have WadAuthor in some rediculously long path name that would cause ACC to kick out?<br><br>Either way, I'll be honest, I never got it to work inside of WadAuthor either; no biggie, though.  I just compile them command-line style and use a common wad editor to stuff it in.

No it seams that you are running wrong executable. You should run wauthor.exe and not wauthr16.exe. If acc is missing, it gives another type of error.<br><br>I'm short on time and haven't checked it. Please be patient.

I am runnin wauthor.exe the is such file as wauthr16.exe

In the newest release, there is NOT a 16-bit executable version.

*shrugs*<br><br>ACC under WadAuthor worked A-OK for me, although I DID have to make a hack version of warun.exe to allow it to execute my Windows-console hack version of ACC.EXE (so many hacks ;p); otherwise I got a "This can not be run under DOS mode" error.  (How interesting...)  None of this should have to apply to you guys, however.  Unless of course you're like me and going all out...

OK, I checked your map. The problem is with sloped 3D floors. It's a little bit more complicated because you need to slope source sector so that target sector is correctly sloped. Basicly that means that you can't move source sectors as freely as with non-sloped 3D floors. In this case you copied it from Vavoom demo level and moved source sectors to the left and that caused slopes to shift. Move them at the bottom and align them properly on grid so that they are paralell to the target sectors and everything will work fine.

Wait, so a sloped 3D floor requires the sector below it to be equally sloped?  Is that how that works?  I was wondering if it was some type of horrid bug whenever I tried to slope a 3D sector... and ended up with a slope correct but floor position way out of whack (and, of course, let's not forget angles more then about 30 bombing with an "invalid 3D floor" error...)

No, it doesn't. You need to make sure that in target sector they are in proper order. Basicly in target sector the plane continues, i.e. in your imagination extend that floor or ceiling of the source sector so that it reaches target sector and you will get a oicture on how the slope will go there. So the best way is to place source sectors kinda paralelly so that slopes are going the same way, i.e. kinda mirror. Yes, it's a bit complicated, but once you'll understand how it works, it won't be too hard anymore.

Oh well I sort of know what you're talking about; I know the slope won't be specific to the 3D (not the same shape) sector.
